Caroline V. “Aunty Carol” Cadabona, 73, of Hilo died June 30, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 18, 1941, in Ookala, she worked for California Nursery (Hawaii Growers) and was a member of New Hope Cross Road Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial is at 2 p.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Marciano Cadabona of Hilo; daughters, Julie Hooker of California, Fay (Scott Haili) Cadabona of Mountain View, Lisa Cadabona of Hilo; sons, Rocky (Karen) Cadabona of Mililani, Oahu, Scott Cadabona of California; sisters, Florence Domingo of Honolulu, Mary Amalato of Kona, Rene (Michael) Hamamoto of Oahu, Rosaline Gambsky of Mountain View; brothers, James (Clara) Domingo of Laupahoehoe, Richard Domingo, Darill (Stella) Domingo, Pedro Domingo, Harrison Domingo and Herman Domingo, all of Ookala, Frances (Isabel) Domingo of Washington; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Kahele

James “Kimo” Wailehua Kahele, 55, of Kailua-Kona died July 1, 2014. Born July 9, 1958, in Honolulu, he was a special projects maintenance employee at the Outrigger Royal Sea-Cliff Resort and a coffee farm manager.

Alfred Nobriga

Alfred “Freddy” Joaquin Nobriga, 89, of Hilo died July 5, 2014, at home. Born on July 22, 1924, in Kaapahu, he was a rancher.

Ladrena Broad

Ladrena Ilima Broad, 67, of Hilo died June 15, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 23, 1947, in Honolulu, she was a tour driver for Alii Hilo Tours and member of The Gospel of Alpha &Omega Church.

James Lee

James Y.C. “Jimmy” Lee, 86, of Hilo died June 23, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Kawaihae, he was the owner of the former Jimmy’s Archery and Taxidermy, a Korean War Army veteran, involved in the Hawaii Island Archery Club and member of the Kaumana Alenaio Kumiai.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 13 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. A committal service will be held at 9 a.m. July 14 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire be worn.

Lorraine Sadino

Lorraine Barbara-Ann Sadino, 62, of Ewa Beach, Oahu, died Feb. 19, 2011, at a care home on Oahu. Born Nov. 16, 1948, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.

Everett “Bully” Spencer, 82, of Hilo died June 21, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired heavy equipment operator with the former M. Sonomura Contracting Inc. and member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 3.

Glen Runyon

Glen Ivan Runyon, 68, Naalehu died July 3, 2014, at his residence. Born Aug. 23, 1945, in Lewis County, Wash., he was a building contractor and member of the Alaskan National Guard.

No services will be held.

He is survived by wife, Sharon Runyon of Naalehu; daughter, Tami Runyon of Idaho; son, Dallas Runyon of Hawaii; three brothers; two sisters.

Masayuki Matsumoto

Masayuki “Masa” Matsumoto, 88, of Hilo died June 17, 2014, at his home. Born Jan. 16, 1926, in Kona, he was a retired grocery products salesman, World War II Army veteran and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by daughter, Iris Wong of Kona; companion, Mayumi Ota of Hilo; two grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman Matsubara

Norman Isamu Matsubara, 59, of Keauhou died June 25, 2014, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born March 3, 1955, in Kealakekua, he was a yard maintenance man and member of the Arc of Kona.

Private services were held.

He is survived by mother, Akino Matsubara of Kealakekua; brothers, Carl (Ogi) Matsubara of Kealakekua, Bruce Matsubara of Keaau; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; two nieces; three nephews; two grandnieces.

Walther Dettweiler

Rev. Walther “Walt” Richard Dettweiler, 81, of Waimea died July 2, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 27, 1933, in Newark, N.J., he was a retired Episcopal priest, a jazz musician, spiritual counselor and longtime AA member.

Friends may call at 9:15 a.m. July 19 at St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea for a 10 a.m. service. A potluck luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church Waimea. For information, contact the church office at 885-4923.

He is survived by sons, Richard Dettweiler of Colorado, Stephen Dettweiler of Texas; daughter, Laura (David) Harper of Waikoloa; brother, Alfred (Barbara) Dettweiler of Nevada; three granddaughters; one grandson.

Yoko Arai

Yoko Arai, 81, of Hilo died June 24, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she worked as a housekeeper for an elderly housing facility on Oahu.

She is survived by companion, Donald Barrios of Honolulu; brother, Toichi (Hanako) Arai of Hilo; sisters, Shimomi Araujo of Hilo, Tomoko Lasua of Ewa Beach, Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
