Honoring our paramedics and emergency personnel

Gov. David Ige proclaimed May 17-23 EMS Week in Hawaii in conjunction with National EMS Week, to recognize and support paramedics and emergency personnel for their commitment to the communities they serve. In the proclamation presented to the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Ige “encourages the citizens of the Aloha State to join us in thanking the men and women who have dedicated themselves to caring for our communities.”

President Gerald Ford declared Nov. 3-10, 1974, as the first National Emergency Medical Services Week, making this year the 42nd anniversary. This year’s theme “EMS Strong” represents the hard work and selfless dedication of emergency medical responders.
