The fourth annual Big Island Chocolate Festival kicked off Thursday with a hands-on chocolate making class taught by Una Greenaway at her Kuaiwi Farm in Captain Cook and a “Chocolate Soiree” in the evening at Kokoleka Lani Farms in Holualoa.

The fourth annual Big Island Chocolate Festival kicked off Thursday with a hands-on chocolate making class taught by Una Greenaway at her Kuaiwi Farm in Captain Cook and a “Chocolate Soiree” in the evening at Kokoleka Lani Farms in Holualoa.
The festival continues today with public culinary demonstrations and agriculture-themed seminars beginning at noon at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii. The seminars continue on Saturday at Kokoleka Lani Farms, along with a culinary competition using chocolate in the afternoon and festival’s signature chocolate gala Saturday night at The Fairmont Orchid.
Presented by the Kona Cacao Association, event proceeds benefit the “Equip the Kitchens” campaign for the future Hawaii Community College-Palamanui and a capital campaign to build a community kitchen at the Waldorf-inspired Kona Pacific Public Charter School in Kealakekua.
