Texas tenor performing in benefit concerts this weekend

April 11, 2014 - 12:05am

A tenor from Texas, Cody Austin, with accompanist Elisabeth Ellis of Seattle headline the 13th annual Hoku Concert Series Saturday, with proceeds benefiting Kona Hospital Foundation. The concert takes place at a private residence in Kona. The program, “Bocelli and Groban’s Greatest Hits,” spans classical and pop eras.

A second show was added to this year’s schedule. “In order to provide this opportunity of an intimate world class concert to music lovers all along the coast, the show will take place a second night, April 11, in Waimea, with proceeds benefiting Kahilu Theatre,” said Hoku Concert Series founder Frank Meyer.

Ellis is a pianist for Seattle Opera and received her master’s degree in collaborative piano from Michigan State University. This will be her first performance in Hawaii.
