Annalina Lozano, a 10th-grader from Parker School, won first placed in the 2015 Kaha Kii 2nd Congressional District Art Competition, out of 121 submissions. Along with her $1,000 prize, her winning art piece titled, “Pride,” will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol in Washington year-round. Lozano plans to put her award money toward tuition at the Chicago Art Institute summer program.

In addition, Parker’s Mia Scibelli has earned national recognition in The Scholastic Art &Writing Awards of 2015. She won a Scholastic National Silver medal award for her art piece, “Twin.” Scibelli has been identified by panels of creative professionals as one of the most talented young artists in the nation. This year, 300,000 works of art were submitted across the country and only the top 1 percent were recognized at the national level. Scibelli has been invited to attend a special ceremony June 11 at Carnegie Hall in New York.
