Gay Jensen was born in Michigan where she began her art career and painted in oils. She moved to Hawaii in 1981 and ventured into painting in watercolors. Her work is inspired by her love for the islands and the surrounding beauty it offers. Her diverse creations of original wall art and prints range from watercolors, oils, pastels and silk paintings depicting a wide range of tropical flowers and birds, sunsets, landscapes and sea life. Jensen’s interest is in the history petroglyphs. She has developed petroglyph-style designs and hula dancers that she displays on handmade paper. Jensen has been accepted in many juried shows and has continued her art studies in numerous workshops with well-known artists on Hawaii Island and the mainland. For more than two decades, Jensen has been a member of several local art organizations, including Kailua Village Artists, Society for Kona’s Education and Arts, and Volcano Arts Center.
