Couple celebrating 70th anniversary
Edmond and Suzanne Tessien are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with an informal gathering for friends and relatives beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sam’s Hideaway in Kailua-Kona. Punch and cake will be served.
Suzanne West and Edmond Tessien were wed March 4, 1944, at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Ore., while the groom was home on leave following 25 missions over Germany, serving in the Army Air Force during World War II. Mrs. Tessien said she remembers her dress cost $49.95, the flowers $50 and the pastor and church fees were $50.
The couple has lived in Hawaii since 1997. They have three children.
