APAC offers continuing classes

April 4, 2014 - 12:05am

Aloha Performing Arts Company performing arts education programs are continuing, with Jerry Tracy’s Tuesday Trouper class beginning a new session on April 15. This class is a theater skills class for children ages 8 through 12, and meets from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. It will meet for six sessions, with the final class, featuring a short public presentation, on May 20. Tracy will be assisted by Hualalai Academy senior Nora Frank. Tuition is $60 for the session. Early sign-up is requested, to facilitate planning. Payment may be made at the first meeting. A limited number of scholarships is available, by arrangement with APAC Operations Director Suzanne Murdock.

Aloha Teen Theatre continues to meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fridays at the APAC Loft, across the street from the Aloha Theatre, on the second floor of the building housing The King’s Daughters Thrift Shop. Roxanne Fox is the adult adviser of group, which offers performance and free educational opportunities for teens, as well as fundraising activities to support off-island excursions. New members are welcome.

A new play writing group meets from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturdays at the APAC Loft. This ongoing group will act as a theatrical sounding board, in which anyone currently working on a script can do readings and get feedback. Aspiring writers who have not written anything yet but want to give it a try as well as receive guidance and encouragement from the group are encouraged to attend. Experienced members may take turns leading the group for a session. Tuition is $10 per class meeting.

APAC’s Keiki Class and its Intergenerational Acting Class are both on hiatus, and will be reactivating in a few months.
