Seniors plan trip to Honaunau
The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.
Members will car pool to the Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park for a club outing. Those attending are asked to provide their own lunch and drinks.

Benefit for Hawaii Wildlife Center set
To celebrate the contributions Hawaii Wildlife Center is making to the present and future of the Hawaii and Pacific environment, the Friends of Malama Solomon will host a benefit dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kohala Village Hub Barn, formerly Kohala Village Inn.
The dinner will include teriyaki chicken, Caesar salad, dessert and beverage. A $10 donation is suggested and proceeds from the gathering will benefit Hawaii Wildlife Center. Tickets will be available at the door or may be requested ahead of time by calling Hulali Covington at 640-9181 or Patti Cook at 937-2833.
Buddhist Study Center session planned
The Kamuela Hongwanji Mission will be hosting the Buddhist Study Center Satellite Summer Session at 7 p.m. Friday. This event is free and open to the public. Kamuela Hongwanji is located at 65-1110 Mamalahoa Highway, on Church Row, in Waimea.
The Rev. Marvin Harada of the Orange County Buddhist Temple will be the featured speaker. His topic will be “Resolving Life’s Problems Through Buddhism.”
Therapeutic riding program seeking volunteers
Therapeutic Horseman-ship of Hawaii’s Kona program is seeking volunteers to assist in its program for special needs riders. Volunteers are needed to be horse leaders, sidewalkers and for administrative and barn chores. The program operates at 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays and Sundays at Horseplay Equestrian Center in Honalo, just mauka of Kona Coffee Villas.
THH-Kona is a nonprofit organization that offers therapeutic riding and horsemanship skills to children, youth and adults with special needs. It is a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International Premier Accredited center.
A new volunteer orientation and training will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Horseplay Equestrian Center.
