Davis: ‘fix it from the top’

Jeff Davis deems Hawaii’s current political system a failure, leading to the nation’s highest taxes, highest cost of living, highest incidence of methamphetamine abuse per capita and lowest voter turnout, among other woes.

Six proposed amendments on ballot

In addition to a wealth of candidates on the Nov. 4 General Election ballot, Hawaii County voters will have five state constitutional amendments and one county charter amendment to vote up or down.

Abercrombie, Ige trade jabs on budget, health care

HONOLULU — From the $12.1 billion state budget to President Barack Obama’s federal health care overhaul, Gov. Neil Abercrombie and state Sen. David Ige traded jabs in a Democratic primary debate for governor Thursday night in an exchange that highlighted tensions between Hawaii’s executive and legislative branches.
