Takai, Gabbard headed to U.S. House

HONOLULU — Democratic state Rep. Mark Takai garnered 82,462 votes to former U.S. Rep. Charles Djou’s 76,422 votes in the race to represent Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District, according to final returns Tuesday.

Ige wins, keeping Dem in top office

HONOLULU — State Sen. David Ige coasted to a win as Hawaii’s next governor Tuesday night, allowing Democrats to hold on to the state’s highest office after voters resoundingly ousted incumbent Gov. Neil Abercrombie in the primary.

Six proposed amendments on ballot

In addition to a wealth of candidates on the Nov. 4 General Election ballot, Hawaii County voters will have five state constitutional amendments and one county charter amendment to vote up or down.
