Hurricane Norbert is intensifying in the Eastern Pacific. Packing 75 mph winds, the system is expected to track northwest over the next few days and peak at 105 mph sometime Friday, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
Located about 215 miles south of the southern tip of Baja California, the cyclone is moving west-northwest — roughly parallel to the Baja California coast — at 8 mph. Hurricane force winds extend 25 miles from the center and storm force winds extend outward 90 miles.
The system does not currently threaten Hawaii but is expected to bring flash flooding in Mexico and the southwestern U.S. over the weekend.
