June 4, 1984: Kohala High School’s Bradley Estabilio recently was inducted into the Nissan Hawaii High School Hall of Honor. Estabilio who helped Kohala to an 18-0 regular season record in 1984 will attend the University of Hawaii at Hilo on a scholarship next fall.

Former Hawaii County Councilman Muneo “Moon” Sameshima has taken out nomination papers and is expected to run for the North and South Kohala seat on the county council. Sameshima will challenge incumbent Spencer Kalani Schutte in this fall’s election.

June 4, 2004: Roy Ledward was already facing numerous drug-related charges when he struck a father and son on May 16 as they were walking on Alii Drive. Ledward, 45, and a woman had been arrested April 16 in Captain Cook. Ledward was on bail when he struck Emil Spencer, 40, and his son Kihei, 7. The collision occurred just a few days before Ledward was to appear in Third District Court on the drug charges stemming from April 16.
