Officials still evaluating threat of tsunami following Chile earthquake
Pacific Tsunami Warning Center officials continue to evaluate the threat of a tsunami following a magnitude 8.2 earthquake off the coast of Chile on Tuesday afternoon.
The earthquake hit at 1:47 p.m. Hawaii Time off the coast of northern Chile, according to the center. The enter noted there is a possibility of a watch or warning issued for Hawaii.
If the tsunami waves impact Hawaii the earliest arrival time is 3:24 a.m. Wednesday.
