No tsunami triggered by magnitude-7.8 earthquake off northern Chile
No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-7.8 earthquake that struck Wednesday afternoon off the coast of northern Chile.
The earthquake struck at 4:43 p.m. Hawaii time, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
On Tuesday, a magnitude-8.2 earthquake off the coast of northern Chile prompted a tsunami advisory for the islands. The advisory was lifted shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
