Na Koa Kona, with paddlers all from West Hawaii, finished first in the masters men 40 division of the Molokai Hoe world championships on Oct. 12, beating out the powerful Tahitian team Tahiti Ohana.
Na Koa Kona placed 13th overall in a field of 104 teams with a time of 5 hours, 32 minutes in the outrigger canoe race of 41 miles across the Kaiwi Channel from Molokai to Waikiki.
