Through the use of repetitive patterns and simple shapes, the class will use the Zentangle® method to create stylized depictions of lava flows and eruptive events of our `āina.  Guided by Certified Zentangle Teacher Dina Wood Kageler, the group will further enhance their work with water brush pens for shading and color while working within the 2.5 x 3.5” rectangular Artist Trading Card format. Cost is $35/$30 VAC Members plus a $10 supply fee. To register, call (808) 967-8222 or visit www.volcanoartcenter.org. Returning tanglers are invited to bring drawing and coloring tools.  Loaner pens, pencils and brush pens will be provided. No artistic experience is required as the class is designed for beginners as well as experienced students.  The Zentangle Basics class is helpful before moving into Zentangle Inspired Art, but is not required.   Dina has been an Volcano art educator for three decades and has taught youth and adult classes in a variety of media including photograph, music, ceramics, textiles and watercolor.  This Lava Landscapes class is Part II of her series of Zentangle-inspired celebrations of our land:  Five Ferns, Lava Landscapes, and Forest Foliage.
