Join us on Saturday, March 18th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at our HPM Kona store for a chance to buzz in on talks featuring beekeeping and dry forest restoration! "BEEKEEPING AND BUILDING NATURAL BEEHIVES" Ed Fenzl, Certified Master Gardener - 10:00am - 11:00am Ed's presentation will feature the basics of beekeeping: the biology, communal and "team spirit" of the bees, their importance in the inter-relationship with all of Nature. The second part of the talk will exhibit and demonstrate how to construct three natural bee hives primarily with recycled wood. He will also touch on the current bee decline crisis and share how you can support a 'revival' of much needed pollinators. "RESTORATION OF THE DRY FOREST ECOSYSTEM" Jill Wagner, Ethnobiologist - 11:15am - 11:45am Did you know that only 5-10% of Hawaiian dry land forests still exist? Are you doing enough to help the environment? Jill will explain the problems plaguing our native dry forests and what we can do to help native species survive for future generations.
