Winning Hearts & Minds: Election Strategies That Can Work For Any Organization

You don't have to like politics to pick up valuable ideas about communications during this election season. A winning political campaign has all the elements that communicators love: a well thought out strategy, engaging messages, diverse tactics, and ultimately, the ability to win hearts and minds.

PRSA Hawaii and IABC-Hawaii are bringing together a panel of veteran political journalists to talk about how campaigns are reaching out to their audiences and what communications pros can learn. We've got:

As reporter-host at Civil Beat, Chad Blair covers Hawaii, particularly how political decisions affect people and communities. Chad has worked as a journalist for Pacific Business News, Hawaii Public Radio and Honolulu Weekly.

Dan Boylan is a well-known observer and commentator on Hawaii politics through his weekly column in MidWeek and as host of "Insights on PBS Hawaii" every Thursday. He is co-author of a biography of Hawaii governor John Burns, "John A. Burns: The Man and His Times."

Malia Zimmerman is the editor and co-founder of Hawaii Reporter. She has worked as a consultant and contributor to several dozen media outlets including ABC 20/20, FOX News, MSNBC, the Wall Street Journal, UPI and the Washington Times. Malia has been listed as one of the nation's top "Web Proficients, Virtuosi, and Masters" and "Hawaii's new media thought leader" by TheWebstersDictionary.com.

Whether you are with an agency, a nonprofit, or a business, your organization has a stake in these elections. You can gain valuable insight into communications and the issues at this session.
