Hawaii Learning Resource will offer a workshop for educators, Universal Design for Learning: Strategies and Tools to Engage Diverse Learners, presented by Kavita Rao, PhD. The workshop will be heldSaturday, March 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kanu o ka ‘Āina Public Charter School, 64-1043 Hi’iaka Street, Waimea. This workshop is designed for educators of Elementary School students; however, parents are welcome to attend. Participants will review the Universal Design for Learning framework which provides practical ideas for designing instruction for diverse learners in the classroom.
Kavita Rao is an assistant professor in the College of Education, Department of Special Education at UH Manoa. She teaches courses on educational and assistive technologies and has been a teacher trainer for over 15 years.
A fee of $15 to attend this workshop includes refreshments and lunch. The fee may be waived for eligible participants. Participants should bring their own computers; however, there will be some computers available.
