Join us for this entertaining and informative program to encourage family literacy as we say Aloha O’e to our foreign exchange students and celebrate a World United through Learning & Travel.
We will have Hao from Vietnam, (attending Kealakehe High), Franzy from Germany and Mehrangez from Tajikistan (both at Konawaena High) presenting their experiences as foreign exchange students living in Hawaii. They will share some expressions in each of their languages, as well as counting and the alphabet. There will be some handicrafts from their countries and it will be a chance for them to explain what it has been like to have to read in English and speak English to everyone they meet. They will have selected some stories for children from their own countries and will be doing read aloud with the participants. The host families will be there to help, too.
