Read Aloud Program
The Friends of the Libraries, Kona is hosting their free family Read Aloud Program, "Books are Building Blocks," from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 5th at the Kailua Kona Public Library. During this school year, participants will be traveling around the world and getting their “passports” stamped each month as we explore the world through reading. Join us for this entertaining and informative program to encourage family literacy. We are visiting Outer Space in February. Our special guest will be Nancy Tashima, curator of the Onizuka Space Center, who will present an overview of NASA’s current space mission with educational materials and photos.
Parents must attend the program with their children. There will be separate reading groups: Kindergarten, grades 1 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 6 and a Parent group. Each group will have a person reading aloud to them, followed by a discussion of what was read.
Registration will take place from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. in front of the library, monthly program from 5:00 to 5:30 PM, and Reading by Age Group from 5:30 to 6:00 PM. Afterward, the families will meet on the lanai for light refreshments, door prizes, and books. Participation is limited to seventy five participants.
