The Kona Historical Society invites you to its biennial fundraising gala “The Palaka Party 2013,” on July 27, 5:00—9:00 p.m. in Kealakekua, held in honor of Miki Izu, Barbara Nobriga, and Jill Olson’s lifelong commitment to preserving Kona’s history.  The evening’s program includes a champagne welcome, pupu dinner and cocktails, music, and a silent and live auction.  Visit the “Palaka Party 2013” webpage under the Events Calendar at www.konahistorical.org to preview featured auction items as they become available, including a Luxury African Safari and Air Package for Two, private group tours and experiences, and local art and collectibles.  For further details or reservations ($85 per person), please call (808) 323-3222, Monday—Thursday, 9:00 a.m.—3:00 p.m.  Thank you to this year’s generous Palaka Party sponsors: Kealakekua Ranch Center, Ltd., Meredith and Gene Clapp, Ralph and Gladys Fukumitsu, The Family of James M. Greenwell, Olson & Sons: Attorneys At-Law, Norman Piianaia, and Sharon and Dick Solmssen.  Proceeds from the Palaka Party help support the Kona Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and Smithsonian Affiliate, and its many educational programs, including the H.N. Greenwell Store Museum, Kona Coffee Living History Farm, and the Portuguese Stone Oven Bread Baking program.
