The Kona Library Book Club meets on the lanai of the Kailua Kona Library on October 16, 2012 at 11:00AM. This month’s selection is Friendship Bread by local author Darien Gee who will be in attendance to discuss her novel. Friendship Bread is a deeply felt, utterly charming novel of three newfound friends and the unexpected gift that will change their lives. It begins with the mysterious present of starter bread batter and expands to show how the smallest gifts can change entire lives. Darien Gee weaves a tale of mystery, intrigue, humor, infidelity, tragedy and how a bag of Amish Friendship Bread starter (dough) and a recipe bring a community, family and friends, old and new, together.
Join us for a lively discussion with the author and light refreshments. Recommendations for next year’s reading list will also be entertained. New members are welcome. The Book Club will meet in November to discuss Paris Wife by Paula McLain.
