Koichi Tohei introduced Aikido to Hawaii in 1953. To focus on the study of Ki and the coordination of mind and body, he founded the Ki Society and established the Hawaii Ki Federation under the leadership of Chief Instructor Christopher Curtis. Curtis Sensei, 8th Dan and holding the highest Ki ranking of Okuden, is the Ki Society’s advisor to Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands and will conduct a free public workshop and Q&A hosted by Hilo Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, a 501(c)(3) organization, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Waiakea Recreation Center in Hilo. Registration begins at 5:00 pm and participants are requested to sign in by 5:30 pm.
Curtis Sensei is the author of Ki-Aikido on Maui, the training manual of the Hawaii Ki Federation, and of Letting Go: Talks on Aikido.
