Ka’analike 2nd Annual M/C “Run for Heroes”. The Kona Elks Lodge will again be hosting our event. We think this year will be twice as big and twice as much fun! We will have Johnny Shot performing, along with a silent auction, and great drawings and giveaways! Please join us for a great time and a wonderful cause.
This year we will be sponsoring Hi Fido Wounded Warrior project. Hi Fido raises and trains service dogs for our returning US service men and women. You may visit their non-profit website at www.hawaiifido.org. They have accepted our request that the monies we send will be specifically targeted to the service dogs program for wounded warriors. Here is a short excerpt from their website.
"Hawaii Fi-Do is dedicated to be part of the healing process of our retuning US servicemen and woman suffering from PTSD and other war related injuries. These injured veterans not only bear the physical wounds but also the mental scars of battle while in Iraq or Afghanistan.
The psychological wounds are just as devastating to service members and their families as physical wounds. Our dogs can alert, distract or respond to situation and act as the focal point as a coping strategy to ride out the symptoms in addition to offering therapeutic benefits both mentally and physically."
