The UH CTAHR Cooperative Extension Service and USDA Agriculture Research Service welcome you to participate in a hands-on workshop about fruit fly management. During this hands-on workshop, Dr. Roger Vargas and Steven Souder of USDA ARS DKI PBARC (Hilo) will teach participants about the important aspects of fruit fly management and how to ID fruit flies commonly found in Hawaii. There will be two opportunities for hands-on activities: 1) Identifying live adults and observing fruit fly eggs, larvae, pupae and parasitoids (natural enemies); and 2) Trap building (with water bottles) and baiting. Following, these activities, the presenters will demo new tools including SPLAT mixtures, the Solid Triple Lure Dispenser, and the latest new Biolure and box trap for MedFly.
