Ham Radio Licensing Class to be taught Oct 19th & 27th, 2013
A Ham Radio Technician class is being held Oct. 19 and 27, in Waimea. We need your commitment by Sept. 25th, to be sure that we can have enough attendance to hold the class with the payment of the $24 to order the class book. The proposed class is tuition-free. You can pay via cash or check. The check is made out to Norm Cohler. Please call (889-5505) or email (April@KRE2.com) your intention and send the check to April Lee; PO Box 190705; Hawi, HI 96719. This class will be taught by a trained electronic engineer with radio operating experience since 1957. He has taught a few such classes in recent years, and most of the attendees have taken and passed their FCC exams afterwards.
The class would be held on 2 successive weekends, 2 adjoined conference rooms ("Mauna Kea" and "Mauna Loa") at North Hawaii Community Hospital from 8am-5pm on Sat; Oct 19, 2013 and Sun; Oct 27, 2013, in Waimea. The cost of the FCC licensing exam is $15, which is paid to the individual Volunteer Examiners at the time of the test. The exam is 35 multiple-choice questions long, and the book mentioned above has all the questions and answers in it, along with theoretical text to explain the radio physics behind the questions. The FCC exam will follow the last class on Sun, 10/27 at 5 PM.
The cost of radios has gone done dramatically in the last few years…$200) This may be vital for safety of your families.
