Community Emergency Response Team Basic Training
The Hawaii County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program trains community members in disaster preparedness for hazards that likely will impact their community and equips them in basic disaster response skills such as fire suppression, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Graduates of the CERT training may apply to join the one of 25 CERTeams on the Big Island, often in your neighborhood. Volunteer CERT members are first responders in their neighborhood or workplace during disasters when professional responders are not immediately available to help. Classess run from 8:30-3PM on four consecutive Saturdays: April 19, 26, May 3 & 10 with the last day being a large multistage hands-on disaster drill and re-certification.
