Two years ago Roland Maurer, a retired oboist, bassoonist, teacher and conductor, moved with his wife, Ursula Hesse, from Switzerland to the Big Island of Hawai'i. In different groups and orchestras, Roland met a number of instrumentalists and singers, who were eager to work on music and to perform. For this reason, Roland founded “Ohrlando’s Chamber Ensemble”, put music and musicians together. This 2013/14 winter season the ensemble will start a series of six Chamber Music concerts. Each one performed in Kona, Waikoloa and Waimea. The monthly concerts are offered to the communities as a “Mahalo” for the warm and hearty welcome to this beautiful island.
The first one is dedicated to Baroque Music with pieces ranging from early Baroque, around 1600, until the end of the period, around 1760. Roland's partners will be Garrett Webb from Kailua Kona, Recorder, Kathy Fraser from Waikoloa, Violoncello and his wife Ursula Hesse on the harpsichord.
