Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park will present their annual Hawaiian Cultural Festival and 52nd anniversary as a unit of the National Park Service.  The event will begin on Saturday June 29, with  canoe rides in Honaunau Bay, lauhala and coconut frond weaving, kapa beating, haku lei making, and much, much more scheduled. On Sunday June 30, the celebration continues with the addition of traditional Hawaiian foods tasting, and a hukilau (traditional fishing) demonstration.

The Cultural Festival takes visitors back to old Hawai‘i in the 1800’s.  Practitioners in traditional dress will provide visitors with a uniquely Hawaiian experience, honoring the culture and traditions of the Hawaiian people and cultural experts, and providing local residents and the community a time and place to gather, learn and share.  Take home craft items that you learned to make with your own hands!

Picnicking, coolers, and chairs are not allowed in the Royal Grounds. No food is available in the park.
