Free concert this Sunday! From 4PM-5PM all are invited to an end-of-summer performance set on Huliheʻe’s breezy ocean-front lawn: a musical tribute to remember Hawaiʻi’s most iconic royal musician and composer, Queen Liliʻuokalani (1838-1917), featuring the West Hawaii County Band led by Bandmaster Bernaldo Evangelista and a hula performance by Halau Hula Na Pua Uʻi O Hawaiʻi under the direction of Kumu Hula Etua Lopes. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mat and chair and to pack a refreshment to enjoy throughout the performance. Please, no alcohol. Afternoon at Huliheʻe is a part of Kailua Village Business Improvement District Kona’s popular Kokua Kailua Village Stroll. Guests are urged to walk, bike or bus to Huliheʻe as access by car and parking may be limited. The Palace will be closed to visitors prior to the performance. Afternoon at Huliheʻe is a free monthly concert series honoring Hawaiʻi’s monarchs and historical figures.
