Beach cleanup vols needed
The mission at Women Who Explore is to inspire every woman to get outdoors, try something new, to push boundaries and to help women check off their bucket lists.
Women Who Explore and Anupaya are bringing 14 women to the Big Island on March 24 to clean up the beaches that need it the most. Working with Hawaii Wildlife Fund and other local companies, they are hoping to pull more than 10,000 pounds of waste off the beaches.
They are looking for local companies that want to be involved.

CommunityCares
fundraiser in January
The 12th annual CommunityCares event is around the corner.
It’s been more than a decade of CommunityCares of helping the Big Island community combat cancer and medical related hair loss and helping local domestic abuse shelters, families in need and the homeless.
The nonprofit, all-volunteer group needs help in sustaining its resources here on the Big Island. It’s hosting its 12th annual CommunityCares event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Kona Old Airport Events Pavilion.
The theme is “Over The Rainbow: Wizard of Oz Style.”
Proceeds are used to help sustain its in-house CommunityCares Cancer Resource Center &Wig Closet. They also help to brighten the lives of cancer and medical hair loss patients and in efforts that speak out against domestic violence. Hair donations go to Locks of Love. The goal is to raise $10,000.
The community is able to contribute by making monetary gifts or supporting the fundraiser in January that will feature professionals from the community volunteering to provide live entertainment, food, massages, haircuts, nail art and more.
